Rad Reading-March

This March I read the book The Silver Arrow by Lev Grossman. The Silver Arrow is a fiction book about how 11 year old Kate gets a huge surprise for her birthday. For her 11th birthday Kate sends a letter to her uncle asking for a present. The next day a train arrives and Kate is ecstatic. Her mother and father do not feel the same way and tell Kate’s uncle to keep it. Kate is miserable and when everyone was asleep at night she went out to her train with her little brother Tom and they both went inside the train. What they didn’t know was that the train was actually a magic train called the silver arrow and they were now going to be conductors for talking animals and sending them to where they need to go.

I liked this book because the main character Kate was so ordinary and then something magical happened to her. This made me feel like that could have happened to anyone and it could happened to me. Also, I liked this book because of the type of magic they used in the book. Usually when you think of magic you would think of powers or magic spells but in this book it was a magic train and talking animals which I liked.

Tom was my favorite character because he always knew what to do when the train was in trouble and Kate didn’t know what to do Tom would always have an answer and lead them to victory. Also, I liked how Tom was fun. In the train they could ask for certain types of cars and Tom wanted a candy car which would be really cool and a pool car. Both of these cars are amazing and cool to be in. A quote to show this is “Why don’t we get a candy car too, Oh! And how about a pool car too! That would be fun!”

My favorite quote from the story is “Don’t feel too bad about what humans have done,” the mamba said with a gentleness in his voice that she’d never quite heard before. “Feeling guilty doesn’t help anything anyway. Humans are animals doing what all animals do: surviving. It’s just that you’ve done it too well, so well that now you have to become a new kind of animal, one who makes sure that all the others survive, too.” I liked this quote because it touched my heart. I realized humans have been treating animals very poorly, destroying all of their homes and forcing animals to find new habitats that are smaller and more dangerous.

Dream Job

If I could have any job in the entire world, it would be a sport’s agent. For those who don’t know what a sports agent is where you are an agent of a professional agent and promote them and represent them with their contracts. If you want to know about how much money they make, it varies. Sport agents make 4 to 15 percent of their athletes income. I would want to be a sports agent because I love watching sports like football, soccer, tennis, etc. Also, I want to become a sport’s agent I would be able to travel the world watching my athletes win tournaments, super bowls or world cups. Thirdly, I would want to be a sports agent because of all the fame you get. You don’t get that much fame where you are bombarded by people every corner you are but are famous where you get to be in your athletes conferences or talking on tv shows about your athletes or just talking about sports. Lastly, I want to be a sports agent because I would be able to play sports every day. When you are a sports agent you have to have an appointment with colleges trying to figure out which athlete you want to choose and most agents talk while playing golf, tennis, or any other relaxing sport. In conclusion, I want to be a sports agent because I can watch sports every day as a job, make contracts, have some fame, and playing sports every day.

Rad Reading-February

This February I read the book The Sword in the Stone by T.H. White. The Sword in the Stone is a fiction book about an orphaned boy named Arthur and his childhood life to become the king. Arthur lives with his brother Kay in Sir Ector’s castle. One day Arthur and Kay stumble upon a magicians home who has a magician living inside named Merlin who tutors Arthur and Kay. With Merlin as Arthur and Kay’s tutor eduction starts to be more fun and they go on adventures turning into different animals like snakes and birds.

I enjoyed reading this book because of all the exciting adventures the boys go on. Each one of Arthur and Kays adventures were so detailed and there were so many exciting new characters that the boys would meet. For example, one of the adventures Arthur and Kay go to is meeting Robin Hood and help rescue some people on one of his missions.

Arthur was my favorite character in the book because he was very kind. Kay was two years older than Arthur and when Kay became a knight, Arthur always wanted to help Kay and even became his squire which is a knights helper. Also, Arthur also wanted to become a knight and vowed to stop all the evil in their world. A quote to show this is “If I were to be a knight, said the Wart, staring dreamily into the fire, I should insist upon my doing my vigil all by myself, as Hob does with his hawks, and I should pray to God to let me encounter all the evil in the world in my own person, so that if I conquered there should be none left.”

My favorite quote in the book was “He was one of those people who would be neither a follower nor a leader, but only an aspiring heart, impatient in the failing body which imprisoned it.” I loved this quote because it made me feel as you can do this in your own life. I didn’t understand this quote at first but it means that you shouldn’t boss people or be a follower in your life, you should understand and try to work with people as a coworker relationship instead of a boss worker relationship.

Invisibility for 24 hours

The possibilities are endless when you are invisible for twenty-four hours! The first thing I would do would steal my neighbors car and drive to a bank and steal all their money! I would be rich for the rest of my life and no one would know because I would never be seen! The second thing I would do would be going to my local Costco and taking each and every bulky item in the store. Then when I have enough, I would go to McDonald’s and take their ice cream machine for my home. After that, I would go to Lucky Strike and steal every single arcade game from there and keep it in my house. After that I would head to the Apple Store and take every electronic there and make someone give me their 5G internet. Now the time should be about 6 O clock at night and the last thing I would do would be to prank my family. I would set up traps around the house and when they wake up they would be bombarded by many pranks. The next day me and my family would have loads of money, food, entertainment. The most important thing is that we would all have loads of fun and no one would ever know that I was the one who committed all of these crimes.

The Life of an Abandoned Stressful Person

Life on my abandon island is stressful. Everyday I experience loads of life and death situations. When I wake up in the morning the first thing I see is a giant deer family standing at my window knocking on my door. Then, when I start to make breakfast somehow a bird gets in my house! I know right? It then takes me about 30 minutes and a loss of some eggs to get the bird out of my house. After that, I go for a walk to the beach. My beach is very different than a normal beach. Because of the lack of humans, crabs have been getting bigger and bigger every week. They’re almost as big as me now! When I come back to my house, a group of monkey’s broke through my door and took all of my food! I have no idea how they do it tho, my door is built out of steel from a melted pan. At night I make my favorite soup that I made with the coconuts from the beach. When I get to sit down and finally get to enjoy my food with zero animals. I hear all of the animals on the island on my door step. I give the rest of my stew to the animals. My life may sound hard but I like it stressful and my life with the animals.

The cure for the worse Virus?

If I could cure one disease in the world it would be Cancer. I would want to cure cancer because a lot of people suffer from it. One out of two people in the world will get cancer in their lifetime. What makes it worse is that there is no actually cure for cancer. Cancer means that there is a bad cell in your body and can come from anywhere. If I could cure cancer I would save an abundant amount of people and get lots of money for it. I would be famous and be a hero for years to come. Furthermore, if I could make a cure for cancer it could lead to other cures for other diseases like covid or a heart disease. In conclusion, If I could cure would disease it would be cancer.

Rad Reading-January

In January, I read Legend by Marie Lu. Legend is a fiction novel and takes place surrounding a teenage boy named called Day and a teenage girl called June. Both of these characters are living completely different lives. Day is one of the most wanted criminals and June is learning to become a soldier in the republics military circle. Day only is a criminal because he is trying to save his sick brother that has a disease. When June’s brother dies when Day is robbing a hospital everyone believes that Day is the culprit of the death. June now wanting to avenge his brother seeks to find Day.

I enjoyed this book because of all the action in the story. The author did a great job with this because whenever there was an action scene, the descriptive language that the author wrote made me feel like I was actually in the fight too. Furthermore, the author also did a great job with adding romance in the story. Usually when authors do this it becomes boring and I usually stop reading but in this book they added not too much but not to little romance and made the book a lot more interesting

June was my favorite character because she was the most driven character in the story. A quote to show this is “I will hunt you down. I will scour the streets of Los Angeles for you. Search every street in the Republic if I have to. I will trick you and deceive you, lie, cheat and steal to find you, tempt you out of your hiding place, and chase you until you have nowhere else to run.” This quote means that after her brother died she wants to avenge him and won’t stop until she finds the culprit of her brother.

My favorite quote from the book is on page 304 “Each day means a new twenty-four hours. Each day means everything’s possible again. You live in the moment, you die in the moment, you take it all one day at a time.” This was my favorite quote because I can use this everyday in my life. This quote means live your life everyday and don’t always think about the past but the present. I can use this in my own life because whenever I get mad at my parents or my friends I should always apologize or forgive them because life is short and you should experience it the best way you can.

Dumbledore Quote

In Harry Potter, Dumbledore was very wise and had many great quotes. One Dumbledore quote that resonates with me is “We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy.” This quote means that when you’re faced with a tough decisions you can go the easy way or go the hard way and have better rewards in the end. This quote relates in my life because whenever I am faced with a tough decisions I sometimes lead to the easy route and regret later. For example, my parents told me to stretch and eat bananas the night before a tournament. I didn’t listen and the next day I cramped and had to retire from my match. I wasn’t angry in myself, I was disappointed. Now everyone before a tournament I remember to stretch and eat lots of bananas. It may sound a bit funny but it works for me to not cramp in a tournament. This quote that Dumbledore said also helps me inside of school. A way to show this is when I am doing a test and there is a question that doesn’t say show your work. The easy way is just to put the answer but the hard way with more rewards would be showing your work because it could help you in next questions or give you more points. In conclusion, this quote that Dumbledore said helps my life a lot outside of school and inside of school.

My Hero

Somebody I look up to as my hero is my father. My father is my hero because he is really kind, takes care of our family with no excuses, and he always makes time for us even when he has a lot of work. My father is really kind because whenever we see someone we know my father always has to have a conversation with them. Sometimes it’s good and sometimes it’s bad. He is really easy to talk to in person. Also, another reason my father is really kind is he always does everything we ask of him even if he doesn’t want to. For example, if I asked him to play games with me he would play with me and if he couldn’t he would promise too tomorrow. My father takes care of my family because he always insists on cooking and makes great food. Furthermore, even though my mom works too my dad works really hard on his work and works really hard to take care of us too. Thirdly, my father always makes time for us. Most of the weekends I have a tennis tournament and my father always is the one to drive me there, watch me, feed me, and drive me back. He never complaints when doing this. Also, when my mom, sister, and me are on our electronics. My father always brings us to the living room to watch a movie together. He always picks the right movies to watch. All in all, my father is the best father I could possibly ask for and could never ask for a better one.

Creativeness

This year I am going to focus on the word Creativeness. Creativeness means the skill and imagination to develop or create new things. I want to work on Creativeness this year because of how much it will help me write and read. Creativeness would help me write because when you sit down, you have a topic in my mind. Secondly, Creativeness would help me keep on writing more descriptive and juicer writing pieces. This is because I want to be able to keep writing on and on and keep my reader engaged. Speaking of readers, Creativeness would help me read because it would help me have more thoughts in my head and pictures to help me understand what I’m reading. Also, Creativeness would help me read more harder and challenging books. Furthermore, this is because when a reader gets stumped on a challenging word, having better creativeness would help you have many ideas what could that word be and narrow it down to that definition. In conclusion, my 2024 word that I am working on is Creativeness because of how much it will help my reading and writing skills.
