Principal for the Day

I wish to be the Principal today! Your last wish is granted. I have wished to be the principal of H.M.S. for the day. The first thing I would do is give every kid and teachers a month off and I would party on campus all day long. The reason I would do this is because students don’t get enough breaks in the school year and a month would be efficient. Secondly, If I was the principal, I would go into my office and take out every single homework given to the students. This is because kids can do school work at school and you should be able to do extracurricular activities and hang out with your families. Thirdly, I would give every single kid A’s and would have A’s for the rest of the school year. Furthermore, this is because a lot of students stress about their grades and all of their parents would be happy with A’s and would get rewarded. Fourthly, I would add animals in the school to roam around with the students. This will keep school fun and entertaining with productive activity. Lastly before the day is over, I make the classes shorter. Each class is around 45 minutes and is a long time. 30 minute classes and study breaks will be good for students to interact with each other and being on task. This will help students be more motivated to go to school. In conclusion, if I was principle for the day I would make school more fun in less time, entertaining, and productive.

Rad Reading-November

This November I read a book called The Rise of Nine by Pittacus Lore. The Rise of Nine is the third book in the series, Lorien Legacy and is a science fiction book about one of the 9 guards, Six and how she is searching around the world for the six other Guards on earth. Six locates one of the Guards in Spain and finds out there is a 10th member of the Guard who escapes from Lorien on a ship different than the one the nine original Guards did. The Guards name is Ella and is a lot younger than Six but just as strong. Now with the recruitment of another Guard, they will have a better chance to find the rest of the Guard.

I loved this book because of all the perspectives they gave in the book. The perspectives can be Six, John Smith and even the other Guards. Furthermore, the author did a great job jumping to all the perspectives. It did not sound weird and I could tell which character they would jump too. Also, I loved how the author added a 10th Guard in the story. This was really cool because it changed the flow of the story with a young Guard instead of Guards who already have all their legacies developed.

My favorite character in this book was Ella. I liked Ella because of her character traits and her legacies. Ella is very kind and she helped one of the guards find their chest which had objects from their home planet Lorien. Ella got her legacies from the elder that could live for ever. This means that her legacy allows her to change ages that she has experience before. For example, Ella is a 12 year old girl but she changed her age to 8 years old. One quote to show Ella is kind is on page 185 the book states” It’s okay. It’s going to hurt, Eight, but then it will feel better. Trust me. “I watch her calming words wash over him and he begins to nod through his grimaces.” This quote shows that Ella is good at calming people down and being there for them.

My favorite quote from the story is “ I don’t like bullies. No one has a right to take or to hurt, just because they can.” This was said by one of the guards. I like this quote because I don’t like bullies either and it’s not right to hurt someone just because they can. I feel like everyone can relate to this quote and if you have the power to help someone you should help them. Furthermore, in the story the Guard saw 2 bullies bullying some hitchhikers for money and he stepped in when he didn’t have to.
